Users are delighted: Beloved Safari feature is coming to Google Chrome!

Ana sayfa / Technology

Safari is undoubtedly the favorite browser for iPhone users and is considered the best browser designed for iPhones. Because of its high popularity, Apple doesn’t neglect it but constantly strives to keep it updated. Some of the innovations brought by Apple also serve as a guide for other browsers, setting a precedent. The latest example of this is the Safari bottom search bar feature making its way to Google Chrome.

The Safari bottom search bar is on its way to Chrome

When Apple moved the search bar in Safari with iOS 15, it surprised the internet, or at least some users. However, this feature was widely appreciated due to the ease of reaching the search bar with one’s thumb. Now, Chrome has decided to embrace this design change. Steve Moser first shared a screenshot of the new address bar setting added to the pre-release version of Chrome for iOS.

This new feature in Google Chrome allows you to change the position of the address bar to either the top or the bottom. When you tap and hold, the bar easily switches between the top and bottom positions. This feature was tested through TestFlight and the screenshot above was shared.

The introduction of this feature from Safari to Chrome will also provide convenience for individuals who switch between the two browsers. Full-time Chrome users will now have the opportunity to enjoy the popular option that Safari introduced in 2021.

Google Chrome takes another important step in terms of security!

Google has introduced a feature with Chrome version 117, currently in the beta stage, that will protect users against extensions.

Starting from iOS 17, Safari allows you to switch the default bottom search bar to the traditional top position in Settings > Safari > Tabs. It’s worth noting that in previous versions, when you changed the position of the search bar, you would lose the ability to swipe the bar to switch pages. However, this issue has been addressed and improved with iOS 17.

Unfortunately, the bottom search bar feature in Chrome won’t allow you to navigate between tabs. In this aspect, Safari still retains its functionality advantage. Additionally, the ability to view all tabs when you swipe up on the search bar in Safari will not be coming to Chrome.
